Appeal for Rescheduling of TTAADC General Election 2026 Amid Major Indigenous Festivals
Agartala: Tripura Swrwngnai Buthu (TSB) has urged the State Election Commission, Tripura to reschedule the TTAADC General Election polling, currently set for 13th April 2026, as it clashes with major indigenous festivals.
TSB stated that the polling date falls on Hari Buisu, one of the most important days of the Buisu festival, which requires active participation in rituals and community activities from early morning.
The period from 13th to 15th April also includes festivals like Buisu, Bizu, Bihu, Sangrai, and Garia Ter, with celebrations continuing in many areas till 21st April. Additionally, the 24th State-Level Buisu Festival on 11th–12th April will already engage a large section of the Tripura community.
TSB said holding elections during this time will create a clear conflict between cultural responsibilities and voting, causing inconvenience to people.
The organization has requested the Commission to shift the polling date to ensure people can take part in both their traditions and the democratic process.
Regards,
Tripura Swrwngnai Buthu (TSB)
